Game Changers Web Series Review

Can you think of a tv or web series about videogames that was actually worth watching? If you’re like me the answer is zero. Most shows related to videogames often pit gamers against each other to see who is the biggest ‘nerd/gamer/etc’. The dialogue is terrible, the cast is wack, and the challenges never live up to the hype. But there is hope. While Game Changers is not our savior, it is a step in the right direction.

Game Changers is based on a simple premise. Take videogame tropes and test them in “real life”. Think Mythbusters meets Wild and Crazy Kids(for you 80s babies). To make the show more entertaining the hosts compete using the trope as the base for the challenge. In one episode the hosts had to complete a parkour course while being chased by a bear. Will Player Created Stories Become A Trend?

Skyrim Campfire

Yesterday I decided to jump back into the world of Skyrim.  It’s the only game that consistently pulls me back in, even when newer games are on my plate.  This time I decided to create a Khajit assassin/ninja/sneaky…okay I don’t have a name for my character’s play style I just know I want him to be stealth based.  This time however I decided I would play Skyrim the “right” way.

You see I normally play Skyrim like I would any game. Join all the factions, explore and take on every quest, and just run around doing shit.  I didn’t really have a “combat style” I just hit enemies with spells or weapons until they died.  I would create story and choose the skills I like but not worry about the character’s story.  At the time the “story” Bethesda created was good enough for me. However, after some time away from the game I wanted back in but this time I wanted a stronger connection with the world. Continue reading

Remembering The Old Days Of Computer Games

interstate-76

On the way home from my parents’ house I was listening to Shade45 and Lord Sear was on his drunk mix set. The “drunk funk” mix as he called was dedicated to the old funk records of the 70s. While bobbing my head and grooving to the mix I instantly thought about one of my favorite computer games. Interstate ’76

It was an early car combat game based in the 70s. Now I wasn’t that good at the game because
A) I was young
B) I didn’t spend much time playing computer games Continue reading

Rockstar And Grand Theft Auto V Continue The Bullshit

I’m pretty sure this post is going to make me sound like ‘angry black man’.  I’m sure that most people will tell me that I’m completely wrong, focusing on the wrong things, or “it’s just a game”.  We all love Rockstar and the GTA franchise.  But I refuse to hold my tongue about the latest Grand Theft Auto, GTA V.  Now Rockstar has just released three separate trailers for their upcoming game.  Each trailer focusing on one of the three protagonists in the game.  The trailers are supposed to give you some back story into the characters’ lives.  Of course the first trailer I watched was for Franklin, the lone black character.  And of course, true to fashion the industry has let me down. Continue reading
