Ball Fever: Action heating up into week seven


Welcome back, fans! After taking some time off last week for the annual Martin Luther King Jr. ‘Day of Service’ event, the Volunteers of America ‘Family Shelter’, Fever Crew is back at it to take on the top team. We want to dig in! There was no change to #1 in this week’s Coach Poll, so if history tells us anything, be prepared for a change this week. Let’s take a look at Week 7.

Tuesday, January 24th

The action at 5:30pm this week starts with one of the two undefeated teams in 5A #3. Frederick sits behind Luke Justice with his 22 points per game with his 14-0 strength. The team will face off against 8-5 Mountain View in the league.

Fossil Ridge have held the #1 spot in 6A for two weeks and head to Prairie View for league action tonight.

Fort Collins is on a five-game winning streak to maintain its 6A #10 spot this week. They look to remain undefeated in league play while they move to Monarch, and Luke Wagstaff looks to continue his “monster” double-double-double averaging 21 points and 10 rebounds per outing.

After an exciting week for Rock Canyon, Jag moved up to second place in the Coaches’ Poll, 6A, with an impressive 15-1 record overall. The Jungle will host the League of Legends and will likely be another hotly contested battle.

“Statistical Staff” Eli Robinson leads 5A #8 Lewis Palmer in all statistical categories: 19 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, and 2 blocks per game! Rangers are 10-4. Against a solid Lutheran team, Brayden Jacobs scored 21 points in one appearance.

Longmont, who is on a four-game win streak, has a 10-4 record and is ranked 9th in the 5A Top 10. They start an important league match this week at Silver Creek.

#6 in 5A Vista Peak has been riding consistently high after beating Rangeview neighborhood ‘A-Town’ at last week’s walk-off fashion, playing very well with the same record of 11-3. You are trying to defeat the North Vikings. This one!

One of our state’s best again is ‘stat stuffing’, with junior Andrew Crawford leading the ninth-place Thunderridge in all statistical categories: 20 points, 11 rebounds per game, 6 assists, 1 steal, and 2 blocks! T-Ridge looks set to stay in the Continental League Mix vs. Heritage.

6A Top 10 Alert!!! Need more high-level action from Continental? After a heartbreaking loss to Rock Canyon at home #7, Regis is on track for #4, 12-2 Mountain Vista walking

5A TOP 10 ALERT!!! #7 Windsor tangles with #4 Mead in the first game of an always tough league. The Mavs’ Tucker Mills has 20 points per game, while Windsor’s David Hageman has 19 points per game.


Consistent 5th in 6A, Denver East boasts a 12-game winning streak, including an impressive road win at Mountain Vista last week. The Angels play a non-league game against Westminster on Tuesday.



Wednesday, January 25th


6A #3 Smoky Hill is on a five-game winning streak and remains undefeated in Colorado. It’s time for the #CentennialTough run. It starts with a match against Arapahoe.


After an eight-game winning streak at their own 5A #5 Dakota Ridge, the team is 11-2 midway through the season and looks set to remain unbeaten in the league against Lyttelton.



Thursday, January 26th


Greeley Central have just three wins this season and will be hard pressed to secure No. 4 as #4 Meade visits them in the first of their two league games.


The Holy Family are the #1 team in 4A and will face #7 in 5A at home, so this will be a fun clash. Get your league and bragging rights now!


Air Academy, 14-2, now with 5A #2 team on a 10-game winning streak, going up against a solid Lutheran team averaging 62 points per game.


Longmont looks to show they deserve a new No. 9 ranking, and will have to hold off league nemesis Centaurs for that.


6A Top 10 Alert!!! Both teams are 12-2 and this will be big in the Continental League standings when #6 Highlands Ranch beats #4 Mountain Vista! , with senior guard Aiden Crusoe on his hot hand, scoring 15 points per game.


5A #3 Frederick laces up his track shoes again in an attempt to escape Fort Morgan.

Friday, January 27th


The state’s number one team kept things going Friday night, with double-double machine Nick Randall looking to maintain a 20-point, 10-rebound streak against Fairview.


Loveland has a 3-9 record this season, and they also host 10th in Fort Collins up north, so four wins will be tough.


5A #5 Dakota Ridge appears to keep running during the move to Wheat Ridge.


6A TOP 10 ALERT!!! It doesn’t get any bigger at Highlands Ranch! We have game-of-the-week contenders ready to battle Continental foes #9 ThunderRidge and #2 Rock Canyon. Arrive early and be prepared to stay late. This will be the last few minutes.



Saturday, January 29th


Looking for action at noon, Hinckley rarely visits #5 Denver East in the non-league.


#10 Fort Collins finished a busy three-game week at Northglen with just one win of the season.


After Denver North’s shot at #6 Vista Peak, it’s now Denver West’s turn to beat the Bison over the weekend.


Another busy team, the #7 Windsor, will play their third game of the week in the league. It’s a game against Greeley Central.


Tough Tarea Fulcher’s 17 points is pacing for #7 Regis and visits from 8-5 Rocky Mountain this Saturday.


#3 Smoky Hill departs Saturday and travels to Mullen. Both are looking to remain undefeated in the first half of his centenary.


5A TOP 10 ALERT!!! Ending the weekend nightcap and Week 7 is fun with two teams who know each other well in the tough #4 Meade and #9 Longmont.
