Corporate Update of NioBay Activities

MONTREAL, Dec. 14, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — NioBay Metals Inc. (“NioBay” or the “Company”) (TSX-V: NBY) (OTCQB: NBYCF) announces an “extension” (“Clevier extension”), participation in research projects with the University of Quebec, Trois-Rivieres (“UQTR”), and affiliation with the Mining Council of Ministers (“MMIC”) in Ontario.

Exploration work completed at Crevier Extension
The Company has completed its drilling campaign (the “Drilling Campaign”) at the Crevier Extension for 2022. Exploration work was carried out within the planned schedule and the original plan was for him to drill 12 holes (3,250 meters). The drilling campaign ended with a total of 4,000 meters spread over 10 holes. Changes to the planned campaign were determined by observations made in the field throughout the campaign, and we expect to receive test results by the end of the year.

Rock report reception
We received a petrology report (digital petrology of six polished thin sections using artsection technology) from IOS Services Geoscientifiques to identify the minerals encountered in specific mineralized zones of the drilling campaign.

This report indicates that minerals containing niobium (“Nb”) have been detected. These are pyrochlore, ellsworthite, pyrochlore-microlite, rutile-Nb, ilmenite and titanite. Carbonates and feldspars of interest were also identified, including carbonate-REE, barbankite, nepheline, and sodalite. The full report will be posted on our website on his website.

to offset 81.3t of CO2 For the greenhouse gases (GHG) emitted during the drilling campaign, Niobay will contribute to Carbone Boréal (https://carboneboreal.uqac.ca) and compensate by planting 584 trees in Quebec.

NioBay and UQTR research project
NioBay is proud to announce its participation in a research project with UQTR. This project isDevelopment of novel porous niobium-based transport layers for water electrolysis with proton exchange membranes”.

Hydrogen is one of the most efficient energy carriers and can be produced in various ways. Among them, the Proton Exchange Membrane Water Electrolyzer (“PEMWE”) is the most promising technology to produce very pure hydrogen from renewable energy sources with no carbon emissions and using pure oxygen as a by-product. It is believed that

Porous transport layers (“PTLs”) must meet certain requirements such as excellent electrical and thermal conductivity, high corrosion resistance, minimal contact resistance, and low mass transport losses in order to function within the cell. must be Niobay and UQTR develop a new niobium-based his PTL for PEMWE that meets all these criteria. This project was made possible by the participation of PRIMA Québec and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC).

Note that niobium is considered a potential replacement for the commonly used platinum group elements (PGEs).

Invitation to MMIC in Ontario
NioBay has received an invitation from Ontario’s Minister of Mines, George Pilley, to join MMIC in 2023. The Commission seeks to improve the business environment for Ontario’s mining sector and make Ontario the best mining jurisdiction in the world.

About Niobium
Niobium is a natural element. It is a soft metal that is readily available, reliable, ductile, malleable, and corrosion resistant. Niobium is used in a wide range of materials and applications in the mobility, structural and energy sectors to enhance its properties and functionality. Niobium convert material. Adding niobium to materials such as steel, glass, and aluminum castings makes them smarter and less impactful on the environment, while also providing other benefits such as improved performance, increased safety, and increased value. will be dropped.
