CRC’s December activities – Lewiston Sun Journal


NORWAY — The Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine (CRCofWM), located at 59 Winter Street on the Stephens Memorial Hospital campus in Norway, is pleased to announce a schedule of free in-person and virtual classes and activities for December. For face-to-face class participants, please wear a mask. Anyone affected by cancer can participate (cancer survivors and their caregivers).

Light a tree with us! Join us on Thursday December 15th for the Tree Lighting and Memorial Ceremony at a large pine tree in Lakeside Norway. Activities begin at 4:30pm with live music, refreshments and a tour of CB Cummings Mill His Barn. The lighting of the tree takes place at 5:30 p.m., shortly after which the names of deceased loved ones are read.The cobblestones conclude the event with a round of holiday carols. I’m here. This is a public event.

Weekly General Reception Hours: Thursdays, 9am-3pm. Reservations are required for other weekdays. Mask required.

Weekly Virtual Classes – Pre-register for one of the virtual classes listed below at www.crcofwm.org.
“Mindful of Good” – Monday Morning Meditation – Monday, 9:00-9:30 am
This enrichment series offers new ways to enrich your life. Built on the science of positive neuroplasticity, each week focuses on cultivating opportunities to grow your inner resources for peace, contentment, and joy. Suitable for those who meditate or are interested in starting a meditation practice.
Led by LMT Karen Vasil-Busch, CAP is a PNT Teacher, Certified Massage Therapist, Karuna™ REIKI Master, and Certified Ayurvedic Practitioner.

MBSR – “Mindful Hour” – Thursday, 9-10am Learn how mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) practices can help reduce stress through breathing, movement, and meditation. Join Kat Larsen as she leads this weekly class, incorporating other practices from her work as a Certified Yoga Therapist and Registered Yoga Instructor.

Chair Yoga in Bridgeton, Bridgeton Community Centre, 15 Depot Street, Bridgeton.
Every Friday – 9am-10am Susan Kane also teaches this class. This class can be easily modified to suit everyone’s ability level. No need to register in advance.

Strength and Balance for Gun Wellness – Tuesday, 10:30-11:30 am, Rush Fitness (141 Western Avenue, So). Paris. Led by Lori Britting, this full-body workout his class is tailored to each individual’s comfort level and ability to maintain mobility and strength. Resistance training (using bands, free weights, and bodyweight) has been shown to increase flexibility, reduce bone loss, reduce stress, and improve overall health.while training at your own pace
Receive encouragement and support to reach your goals. Call CRCofWM (890-0329) to register. Note: There are no classes on December 20th and 27th.

Craft & Chat at CRCofWM, 59 Winter Street, Norway: Tuesdays from 1-2pm Stop by to explore your creative side and meet new friends at the same time. All supplies are provided and masks are required.

CRCofWM 59 Winter Street, Chair Yoga in Norway: Thursdays 1-2pm With Kat Larsen, we utilize both sitting and standing poses, providing all the benefits of traditional yoga with a chair as support. Join us for this gentle form of yoga. Chair yoga can help improve core strength and balance, promote better breathing techniques, increase flexibility, and reduce stress. Call CRCofWM to register.
