DEWA Women’s Committee organised more than 50 social and technical activities in 2022


Dubai, United Arab Emirates: The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is committed to supporting female employees, turning challenges into opportunities, and empowering them to effectively contribute to building the nation and future generations. We provide an environment that encourages DEWA has 1,937 female employees in all departments. This number includes her 778 female employees in technical and engineering departments and her 523 employees in senior positions. Emirati women make up her 83% of DEWA’s total workforce. DEWA’s research and development (R&D) center has 16 female employees, 15 of whom are Emirati. Women staff make up about 35% of the R&D center team.

The DEWA Women’s Committee plays an important role in supporting DEWA’s women staff. The committee organized her over 50 social and technical activities and received her four benchmark visits during 2022. Female employees’ satisfaction with the committee’s performance reached 94.5%. Over the past three years, DEWA’s female employees have been offered her over 50,000 training opportunities and received 63 scholarships. DEWA has accepted her 28 new graduates in 2022, including her 26 in engineering and technology fields.

8th Emirati Women’s Forum

In celebration of Emirati Women’s Day 2022, DEWA hosted the 8th Emirati Women’s Forum at the DEWA Academy in Al Hudaiba with the theme “Inspiring Realities… Sustainable Futures”. His MD and CEO of DEWA His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer attended the event along with several officials. The event was broadcast live on DEWA’s internal and external channels, allowing all female employees to participate not only in the forum, but also in the women’s committees of various organizations.

International Women’s Day

To coincide with International Women’s Day 2022, the DEWA Women’s Committee hosted a virtual motivational session titled ‘Success for All Women’ to highlight the achievements of women employees and highlight DEWA’s success, excellence and global reach. Commendation for Outstanding Engineers

On International Day of Women Engineers, DEWA honored Emirati women engineers in all categories. The committee held a celebration at the Dubai Ladies Club, honoring 10 prominent female engineers and receiving letters of appreciation, cash gifts and annual Dubai Ladies Club dues. The Commission also held a series of panel discussions to highlight their achievements. The Commission has launched a second edition of “#your day… as an Engineer” that focuses on their day-to-day responsibilities and how they overcome challenges and benefit from opportunities. rice field. Women’s Forum Global Meeting 2022

The committee attended the Women’s Forum Global Meeting 2022 in Paris, France. Representatives from 172 countries around the world participated in an exchange of knowledge and expertise on women’s empowerment and their role in achieving sustainable development.

Hosting of the Pink Caravan

To coincide with International Breast Cancer Awareness Month each October, the Commission hosted a pink caravan to raise awareness about early detection and prevention of breast cancer. The sessions, conducted in Arabic and English, were attended by over 100 of her female employees from various departments. The Pink Caravan’s professional team also conducted health screenings and provided mammogram vouchers to participants.

Educational trip to the Women’s Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai

The committee organized an educational trip to the Women’s Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai to inspire female employees with success stories of local and global female leaders. The visit was intended to encourage female staff to unleash their creativity, enhance their well-being, and strengthen their role in serving the nation in various fields.

Ramadan Women’s Soccer Tournament

The DEWA women’s team won the Ramadan Women’s Football Tournament organized by the Dubai Sports Council in partnership with the Jam Sports Academy. The team was in first place without conceding a goal in all games.
