Eagle donations help community activities | News


BROOKVILLE — The Eagle Fraternity of Brookville (FOE 983) has continued to support local organizations and charities through donations this past year.

Secretary Phil Cook said it has made 95 donations in 2022 ranging from $50 to $5,000. “Ten $50 donations were made to various organizations to commemorate the deceased members,” he said.

The largest donations were $5,000 each, to the Brookville Laurel Festival and the Brookville Food Pantry.

Fire companies and children were top priorities among the Eagles’ donations last year.

Donations of $1,000 each were made to seven local fire companies, including Brookville, Corsica, Knox Township, Pine Creek, Siegel, Somerville and Warsaw Township.

Care for children was met with various forms of donations. Each of her $1,500 scholarships went to her five members of the 2022 Brookville class. Leah Kombau, Rainie Sorbin, Lauryn Cook, Taylor Rafferty, and Carly Steiber. The Eagles also made a donation to Jeff His Tech for the Backpack Program, made a donation to the Brookville School District to meet the needs of the children, and also made gifts to various clubs within the district.

Donations were made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Children and You Services, and Western PA CARES for Kids.

Other donations supported local libraries, animal sanctuaries, and service groups.

Contributions made by the Eagles to support community causes in 2022 totaled $59,001.13.
