Come out of your hole and join us for the annual Groundhog Fever Festival on Saturday, February 4th. It’s an afternoon of fun and entertainment. The party starts at 1pm and continues throughout the afternoon with classic Chilean cook-offs, music and a mini contest (with prizes). Our local favorite buffoons, WAD (Wayne and Dave), are there to pester the event…that is…the host… with the help of DJ Ducky and Entertainment530, all It offers a pleasing sound of pleasant, upbeat music that appeals to people!
There are eight Chilean Cook-Off contestants this year: Our Savior Lutheran Church, the Curmudgeons for Christ (is this going to be a Chilean Crusade?!), Plumas County Sheriff’s Employees Association, Feather River Food Co-op, Feather River Resource Conservation District, Grocery Outlet, Big Daddy’s Guide Service and the dynamic duo of Dale Hays and Shawn Adams.

Library, VFW, James Lees Dreams and Copper Fern Studio, Feather River College, Cross Stitchin’, Amy Napoleon, Soroptimist International of Quincy, High Sierra Mermaid, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Plumas LMJ Creations, Marv’s Metal Sculptures , Veterans Services, Plumas Co. Public Health, and Meadow Valley Botanicals.

The Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship is reviving mini-bike tracks for kids and young at heart, and Quirkas sponsors Kid Zone. A kids zone will be located on the west side of Courthouse and a mini bike track will be located at the south end of Court Street.
Speaking of fun, Big Daddy’s Guide Service brings you a fully loaded, well-equipped Guide Service Trailer! Let’s go! The trailer will be located next to Dame Shirley Plaza.
Who doesn’t like beer with chili? The Brewing Lair is back with a beer booth. For those who don’t like beer, the Quincy Chamber of Commerce sells wine. High Sierra Sheep Co. also offers delicious lamb sliders, lamb phillies, and…get this…lamb cut for retail!
At 1:30, the fun begins on the courthouse steps with Whipped Cream Langres by SavMor Foods. This is our version of a pie-eating contest – look at the participants (you can too!)! Find the ball. Whoever blows the bubble first wins!

Join Quintopia at 1:45 for a Flip Cup Fight. Two teams compete against each other to see who can finish their beer and turn the cup upside down.
At 2:00 Plumas Performing Arts will announce the winners of the Quincy Mayor Honorary Award. Beginning at 2:15, the Sam Wrestle Tastle hosted by Quincy Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is one of the kids’ favorites. Your child doesn’t need to know Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to enter this contest! Who’s more dexterous? Who has the biggest thumbs? But really…does size matter?

At 3:30 we have Arm Wrestle-Mania. This is your chance to show off your muscles.
At 3:45, all the mustache fanatics proudly show off their mustaches and beards to the delight of all of us. No mustache or beard but want to join the fun? Social Services will have his own DIY beard-making station for adults and kids alike.
At 4:00 PM, the winner of the Chili Cook-Off will be announced and the afternoon will conclude. The People’s Choice, Judge’s Choice and Best Decorated Booth winners will receive gorgeous trophies.
Entry to the mini-contest is free, and ticket prices are $5 per person for the Chilean Tasting (you can also vote for People’s Choice) and $6 for a glass of beer or wine. We accept cash, PayPal, or Venmo.
