We have lots of festive fun in store over the next few days to celebrate the holiday season with events at Rancho Bernardo, Poway and 4S Ranch. Here are some options.
Bernard Ranch
• Take a walking tour of Bethlehem back in time to the time of Jesus’ birth at this free event at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Bernard Heights Parkway 15750. Activities include tours featuring various villages and biblical scenes, live nativity scenes, his over 100 nurseries around the world, and refreshments.
Available Thursday, December 15th and Friday, December 16th from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Saturday, December 17, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Participants are asked to donate new pillows, towels, or hygiene kit items such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoos, body soaps, and deodorants to help those in need in their communities.

• ‘Holiday Nights’ are back at Bernardo Winery, offering activities at the winery at 13330 Paseo del Verano Norte every night from now until December 18th from 5pm to 9pm. Tasting rooms will be open, while The Kitchen Restaurant, which serves Italian takeaways, Manzanita Coffee House, and the Village Shop will stay open late for holiday shopping. There will also be food trucks.
The winery is decked out with twinkling lights and seasonal decorations. There are booths of carolers, local artisans and craftsmen, and a gazebo with an exhibit of Miceli’s Polar His Express Train. Santa doesn’t come on Christmas night. Admission and parking are free. Bring cash with vendors that do not accept credit cards. No pets or outside food and drink. Poway
• The Southern California Ballet will perform Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker with more than 110 dancers on Saturday, December 17 at 1:00 pm and 7:00 pm and Sunday, December 18 at 1:00 pm at the Poway Center at 14598 Espola Road. for the Performing Arts. A professional guest artist plays the lead role.

• Poway Library will be hosting a FREE Gingerbread House Decorating Event on Saturday, December 17th at 2pm.

• Celebrate Hanukkah with a Dreidel Day event on Sunday, December 18 at 2:00 pm at the Poway Library (13137 Poway Road). The library’s community room offers fun Dreidel games and crafts. The event is free. For more information, call 858-513-2900.

• PowPAC, 13250 Poway Road, broadcasts “Radio Christmas Carols of the 1940s” at 8:00 pm Fridays and Saturdays and 2:00 pm Sundays through December 18th.
The musical is set on Christmas Eve 1943. It focuses on Peddington Her Players, who are broadcasting from their New Jersey studio a modern take on Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.

• The California Ballet Company will present Maxine Mahon’s The Nutcracker on Thursday, December 22nd at 7:00 PM. Friday, December 23rd at 1:00 pm and 7:00 pm and Saturday, December 24th at 1:00 pm at the Poway Center for the Performing Arts, 15498 Espola Road.
Show is for ages 2 and up.

4S Ranch
• On Thursday, December 15, at 4:00 pm, make gingerbread dolls at 4S Ranch Library, 10433 Reserve Drive. No signup required. The number of arrivals is limited, so hurry up. This free activity is provided by Friends of the 4S Ranch Library. Call 858-673-4697.

• Friends of the 4S Ranch Library will offer a complimentary gift wrapping service at the library during business hours from Thursday, December 15th through Saturday, December 24th. Volunteers wrap presents.
