Krishi Vigyan Kendra meeting reviews progress made to give agriculture, allied activities a boost : The Tribune India

The 5th Scientific Advisory Board of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Booh and Tarn Taran (affiliated with Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University) met on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Dr Inderjeet Singh.

Dr Inderjeet Singh suggested that the livestock sector could play an important role in doubling farmers’ incomes. He said that livestock as well as fishing ventures in line with integrated farming systems have further contributed to increase farmers’ incomes. , added that diversification of the district’s existing cropping system with alternative crops such as oilseeds, legumes and root crops could not only achieve diversification goals but also bring better returns to farmers. VC also emphasized educating farmers for better management of crop residues through livestock feeding.

Dr. Balwinder Kumar, Associate Director of KVK, presented a report on the actions taken at the last meeting and a progress report for the previous year.
