LIST: Metro school districts releasing early, canceling activities – WSB-TV Channel 2


ATLANTA — School districts across the subway are releasing students early and canceling evening events due to possible inclement weather on Wednesday afternoon.

Severe Weather Team 2 Chief Meteorologist Brad Nitz states that the region has a severe weather risk of less than Level 3 of 5. Gusts of wind, localized flooding, and brief tornadoes are possible.

Ah tornado watch By 7pm tonight, it has expanded to include all of Metro Atlanta and most of Northern Georgia.

Here is a list of districts that are rejecting or canceling events early:

Atlanta Public Schools: All after-school and evening activities, including track and field, have been cancelled.After-school program care will be provided at the elementary school until 6:00 pm as scheduled

Banks County Schools: Students will be released at 2:00 pm and all after-school activities will be cancelled.

Clayton County Public Schools: Schools will early discontinue all athletics, extracurricular activities, and after-school activities, including district improvement programs.

Cobb County Schools: All after-school activities are canceled except after-school program care.

Schools in DeKalb County: All after-school activities are canceled.

Gilmer County Schools: Release students early.

Jackson County Schools: Released students 30 minutes early and canceled all after-school activities.

Gwinnett County Public Schools: Cancel all extracurricular activities after school.

Marietta Municipal Schools: All athletics and extracurricular activities are cancelled.
