Force Commander, Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), Rear Admiral. Abdul-Khalifah Ibrahim called for sustained efforts to end the activities of terrorist groups in the Lake Chad Basin region. Major General N’Djamena gave a speech at a ceremony to kick off his 2023 campaign in Chad. Ibrahim said the success recorded in 2022 was due to cooperation at all levels, driven by the instability in the region and the need to fight together.
He expressed optimism that unwavering synergies between military and strategic partners would defeat the threat of terrorism and insurrection in the region this year.
Statement by the spokesperson for Lt. Col. Multinational Joint Task Force. Kamaldine Adegoke said on Saturday that Ibrahim praised his forces and staff for working in concert to end the activities of Boko Haram and the Islamic State of West Africa (ISWAP) terrorists in the region.
He also thanked the Republic of Chad for providing a safe and conducive environment for carrying out the MNJTF’s activities.
The commander paid tribute to the war dead who paid the highest price for peace in the region and prayed for peace and stability in the Lake Chad basin nations.
He said it was an opportunity to further strengthen the MNJTF’s interests in the fight against terrorism.
Former Deputy Commander, Brigadier General. Assoualai Blama thanked Force Commander for his leadership style which is reflected in the successes he has recorded for the MNJTF this past year.
Brahma also assured the commanders that the military, staff, and other components were ready to carry out the MNJTF’s mission to ensure the full restoration of peace and security in the region.
According to him, the MNJTF is a product of the will of the heads of state and governments of the member states of the Lake Chad basin countries facing the common threat of Boko Haram terrorists.
“They have decided to provide a common response through the operationalization of their own joint force, the MNJTF.
“As a team, the MNJTF will remain committed to the work of Boko Haram/ISWAP until the fight against terrorism ends in our favor,” he said.
Blama also thanked various partners for their tremendous support to the MNJTF and asked for further help.
He cited several achievements for the force, including successful operations such as Operation Lake Sanity and the return of thousands of refugees and internally displaced persons to their ancestral homes, and many more in this new year. I promised to do something.
