Times Square (WABC) — Preparations are in full swing as thousands head to Times Square to welcome 2023.
Security is a big focus.
A security conversation will take place on Friday. At this time, the NYPD says there are no credible threats.
However, we do discuss guns, the presence of law enforcement, and road closures.
Streets are affected between 38th and 56th Streets between 6th and 8th Avenues. Closure begins Saturday.
On Fridays you can see the New Year’s Eve ball lit up. There will be a ball drop test this weekend to make sure everything is fine.
The ball can display over 16 million vibrant colors and climb a 130 foot pole.
For the first time in two years, this party will be completely unrestricted.
