PDP suspends Fayose’s son, Nnamani, others

The People’s Democratic Party has suspended some party leaders in the states of Ekiti, Enugu and Imo for alleged anti-party activities.

The party announced the suspension of party leaders late Friday, including Emiola Jennifer, Ajay Samuel, Oreinka Olare, Akelele Olinka and John Fayose, in a statement by its National Communications Director Debo Olognagba.

Others include Aieni Funso and Ajijora Oradimezi.

Former Governor Chimaroke Namani, who has been suspended from Enugu State, and Chris Ogubu of Imo State.

Ologunagba said the suspension is effective from Friday 20 January 2023.

Part of the statement read, “The PDP’s NWC National Working Committee was approved after a very extensive study and review of our party’s work in the country, in accordance with the provisions of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017). The suspension of Senator Chimaroke Namani, Enugu State Senator Chris Ogbu Imo, will take effect from Friday 20 January 2023 due to allegations of anti-party activity.

“Similarly, the NWC has approved the suspension of party members listed under Ekiti state from Friday 20 January 2023 due to allegations of anti-party activity.

“The suspended members of Ekiti State are: Ayeni Funso – Ekiti North; Ajijola Oladimeji – Ekiti Central. Others are: Emiola Jennifer – Ekiti South II; Ajayi Samuel – Ekiti North II; – Ekiti Central; Akerele Oluyinka – Ekiti North I; and Fayose Oluwajomiloju John – Ekiti Central I.”

In this connection, the PDP also disbanded senior members of the Ekiti provincial branch.

A party spokesperson, who also confirmed this in a statement Friday night, said:

he said: The PDP (amended in 2017) immediately dissolved the PDP Ekiti State Executive Committee.

The NWC, instead, on behalf of the NEC, approved the appointment of the Ekiti State Caretaker Committee to run the party’s affairs in the state for a period of three months effective today, Friday, January 20, 2023. Works in accordance with Section 24 (2) of the PDP Code (amended 2017).

“The PDP urges all party leaders, key stakeholders, and large numbers of party members across the country to remain united and focused on the party’s mission to save, rebuild, and redirect the country from unjust rule. I will advise you.”
