Topeka (KSNT) – The Topeka Living the Dream Committee held a poetry contest on Tuesday night as part of Martin Luther King’s Celebration Week.
Tuesday was Education Outreach Day for the 16th Annual Martin Luther King, Ph.D. Poetry Contest for students in grades 5 through 12 at the Marvin Auditorium’s Topeka and Shawnee County Public Libraries.
“We can’t wait,” wrote contestant Audrey Appuhn, a 9th grade student at WRHS.
Time won’t wait, neither you nor I. It keeps going without us. Without waiting for the mother, desperately looking for my child. She was puzzled by the conversation, but the time is not waiting. Her child was seduced by a man with a candy bar without the help of the police, but time passed without her.. Don’t wait for your father, stop your car for a crime that doesn’t exist, click your cuffs, and time doesn’t wait. He waits for years as his anger builds up inside. But time moves on without him. ”
