Given the severe water shortages that St. Kitts is currently experiencing, the St. Kitts and Nevis National Carnival Commission (SKNNCC) has announced that all customary made the decision to end its “wet down” activities.
As a responsible entity, SKNNCC supports the efforts of the St. Kitts Water Services Department to conserve water when reserves are taxed to capacity. Although the water tanker provider does not use potable water, SKNNCC does not wish to encourage water wastage in any way.
SKNNCC apologizes to carnival-goers and urges them to conserve water. SKNNCC recognizes that ‘wet down’ is a very popular element of street activity and strongly supports the Ministry of Public Infrastructure and Utilities seeking to preserve this most precious commodity.
Steet activities kick off with Joubert on Monday, December 26th, Caribbean Galaxy Junior Parade on Saturday, December 31st, and Grand Parade and Last Lap on January 2nd and 3rd, 2023.
