ROCHESTER, MINNESOTA (KTTC) – A little preoccupied with the kids staying home during the long vacation period? Get away from the tech screen and head to nature. In particular, mild weather awaits.
Beginning Tuesday, Quarry Hill Nature Center hosts a free family-friendly event.
The program series is called “Winter Vacation Activities”. There are cave tours on Tuesdays where you can look for bats during their hibernation.
On Wednesdays, you can learn how to band birds and more family-friendly activities throughout the week.
“Quarry Hill is very important to our community, and community is very important to Quarry Hill. “It’s very influential when you take them out into nature away from nature. Here at the Nature Center, we’re very passionate,” said KyAnne Hilger, a staff naturalist.
In addition to these family-friendly events, you can rent cross-country skis and snowshoes for use in the park during these winter months.
