Wisconsinites prepare for winter activities after first snowstorm of season

Green Bay, Wisconsin (WFRV) – Wisconsin’s recent snowfall has tempted snow lovers to make the most of the ice.

David Zeller has owned Zeller’s Ski and Sports for 30 years and says he gets a lot of deals during the winter months.

“Usually more recreational skiers tend to want to get out when they see snow on the ground where more seasoned skiers know it’s snowing and it’s snowing in the Western United States (US). Overall sales have been great this year,” Zeller said.

Zeller isn’t the only company with more customers. People line up to buy snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles, according to Ken’s Sports of Green Bay.

“They say the economy is bad or tough, but people still want to have fun, and they want to enjoy the Wisconsin winter,” Jason Harms Service said. “There’s nothing better than running on ice on an ATV.” Advisor of Ken’s Snowmobile.

Some people use snow for recreational purposes, but not all parks do. The Barkhausen Water Reserve in Brown County is expecting more snowfall by the time the trail opens.

“We’ve got to get more snow. Good teaser we were hoping to get 6 to 8 inches or 10 to 12 inches, but we need 4 or 5 inches of base down so we’ll talk more next week. “Hopefully the snow and cold weather will open up the trails,” said Barkhausen Water Reserve Manager Jason Petrella.

With temperatures expected to drop, ski experts recommend having your gear inspected by a professional before use.
