This week is the kind of week where I introduce more activities than I can mention. That’s a good question, so let’s save space and get down to the events that take up nearly all of Fayetteville.

Wizards Weekend is coming to Fayetteville from Friday, January 27th through Sunday, January 29th. Wizards and muggles gather to celebrate a magical weekend when an entire town is transformed into a magical village. The majority of the activity is outdoors and involves walking around town, so check the weather and dress accordingly. This year will include even more self-guided he activities that allow groups to explore venues and activities on their own, including wizard-themed scavenger hunts around town. Laurel Creek Falconry will be in attendance, as well as Roy Moose of the Snakes of West Virginia Presentation. Businesses all over town also host wizard-themed activities for people of all ages. There are multiple feast events, themed accommodations, wizarding tours, and more!
Charlie McCoy Park will also host the Fayetteville Quidditch game on Sunday, January 29th. The game will start at 2:30 p.m. at the ballpark. Remember that helmets are required for riders during the competition and all participants travel on foot if wet. Cheer on your Quidditch Cup team with a broom and dress in your favorite house colors.
Creative Juices is hosting a Harry Potter Paint Party at New River Yoga on Saturday, January 28 from 1-3pm. All materials are included and pre-registration is available.
Freefolk Brewery is also celebrating Wizard Weekend. They offer the delicious Wizard Speed IPA, a bold hop-forward IPA with citrus flavors and juicy aromas. Chef Eric prepares items in his kitchen, such as classic English fish and chips with mushy peas. (They swear it’s good.) Also on the menu is British-style Shepherd’s Pie topped with creamy mashed potatoes. perform.
304 Food Trucks will be held in towns offering Harry Potter-themed merchandise. The Cathedral Café will be decorated as a Great Hall with canes, color-changing mugs, Butterbeer, Butterbeer pancakes, and even a photo shoot on the 9 3/4 platform. If wizards are too much for you on Saturday, January 28th, you can always visit Gud Dam Brewery in Somersville. Food and drink at GDB will not disappoint. From 7pm to 9:30pm, Aaron Beam and Do Gooders will be on stage.

Oak Hill’s Lost Paddle will also take a break from the wizarding world on Saturday, January 28th for a flashback to the ’90s. Show off your best dance moves, dig into your old clothes and kick off your ’90s-inspired motorcycle drive-by party on the indoor stage at 7pm. There will be special prizes for the best dressed. is also available.

The Ice Queen is coming to The Hilltop Coffee Company on Sunday, January 29th. She tells stories, sings, and meets all the little children in her dining room. Visit our Facebook page and click the link to reserve your spot for just $3 per person. You can choose from 1, 2, and 3 pm shows. All proceeds from this event will be donated to the Beckley Children’s Theater’s upcoming production, Into The Woods. Let the kids have a good time, grab a cup of coffee and show your support for the local art her program.

The Weathered Ground Brewery has three days of musical talent this weekend. Alan Dale Sizemore on Friday, January 27th and Jeff Ellis on Saturday, January 28th. Both of these shows are from 6pm to 9pm. The music doesn’t stop with Matt Mullins from 3pm to 6pm on Sunday. So listen to him.

Matt Deal will be playing Chetty’s Pub in Lansing on Friday, January 27th from 6-8pm. I can’t say enough about the food, drinks, views, or the amazing musicians they have booked. Matt packs up, hi he’s tailing out of there and right after this show he’s heading over the bridge to Charlies Pub. They hold an Open His Mic His Night at Charlie’s, where Matt tries his comedy stand-up. Some people are just showing off, having fun poking and poking people who have no talent.

If Mullens is where you step in, Thomas Danley will be at Rusted Musket on Friday, January 27th. The food there is great, the beer is cold and Thomas plays from 9pm until midnight.

John Covey Cole shouts out at Hill N Holler in Lewisburg on Friday, January 27th. The food there is excellent and John will be on stage from 8pm to 10pm.

You have two chances to catch The Untrained Professionals this weekend. First at The Pint Pub in Charleston on Friday, January 27 from 10pm to 1am, then at Calacino’s in Beckley on Saturday, January 28 from 8pm Rumor has it that Calacino’s owner Jeff Weeks has moved There are a few things that made me play this show on my birthday.
