Wizard Weekend returns to Fayetteville with a magical collection of activities | Life


This week is the kind of week where I introduce more activities than I can mention. That’s a good question, so let’s save space and get down to the events that take up nearly all of Fayetteville.

Wizards Weekend is coming to Fayetteville from Friday, January 27th through Sunday, January 29th. Wizards and muggles gather to celebrate a magical weekend when an entire town is transformed into a magical village. The majority of the activity is outdoors and involves walking around town, so check the weather and dress accordingly. This year will include even more self-guided he activities that allow groups to explore venues and activities on their own, including wizard-themed scavenger hunts around town. Laurel Creek Falconry will be in attendance, as well as Roy Moose of the Snakes of West Virginia Presentation. Businesses all over town also host wizard-themed activities for people of all ages. There are multiple feast events, themed accommodations, wizarding tours, and more!

Charlie McCoy Park will also host the Fayetteville Quidditch game on Sunday, January 29th. The game will start at 2:30 p.m. at the ballpark. Remember that helmets are required for riders during the competition and all participants travel on foot if wet. Cheer on your Quidditch Cup team with a broom and dress in your favorite house colors.

Creative Juices is hosting a Harry Potter Paint Party at New River Yoga on Saturday, January 28 from 1-3pm. All materials are included and pre-registration is available.

Freefolk Brewery is also celebrating Wizard Weekend. They offer the delicious Wizard Speed ​​IPA, a bold hop-forward IPA with citrus flavors and juicy aromas. Chef Eric prepares items in his kitchen, such as classic English fish and chips with mushy peas. (They swear it’s good.) Oak Hill’s Lost Paddle will also take a break from the wizarding world on Saturday, January 28th for a flashback to the ’90s. Show off your best dance moves, dig into your old clothes and kick off your ’90s-inspired motorcycle drive-by party on the indoor stage at 7pm. The Ice Queen is coming to The Hilltop Coffee Company on Sunday, January 29th. She tells stories, sings, and meets all the little children in her dining room.
