2022 has been a frenzied and unhappy year for demoralized lawmakers and members of the House of Representatives at City Hall. transferred loyalty to
Members of Congress, led by Senior Deputy Mayor Raman Bakshi, began efforts to replace the mayor to conduct a floor test, but that was not possible until the mayor convened a session of the House of Representatives.
With the inauguration of the new government on 16 March, members of parliament, Siromania Akali Dal, and BJP also began to join the mayor’s camp. The parliamentary leaders, who had been confident in winning a no-confidence motion against Mayor Karamjit Singh Rintu, saw a major setback as more than 15 members of parliament left parliament and joined the AAP in rapid succession.
Bakshi and the council pressured the mayor to call a House meeting to test the floor, but it was only the mayor’s prerogative to call the House meeting.
